Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday is observed by Catholics on Thursday before Easter. It is the day of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his apostles before his betrayal, his trial and his crucifixion.

This is a solemn observance where he humbles himself by washing the feet of his apostles prior to the Last Supper. In churches around the world, the priest does the washing of the feet during the service. My gosh, can you imagine how he lowered himself to the rank of slaves by washing his apostles' feet? I am in awe of what He did and the succession of events that unfolded after the Last Supper. I could just imagine that He could have taken the easy way out, but because of His love for us, He endured many demeaning and horrific things.

How many of us will do the same to save someone? One? Two? None? Sad to say, but we live in a society that is full of pride, selfishness, arrogance, anger, etc. Why can't we follow in Jesus' footsteps? Because we are cowards...we do not want to be ridiculed! We want a life that is full of glory and riches with no concern of anybody else! Am I right? Or are these words too harsh? Maybe? Maybe not?

We really have a lot to learn from Jesus. He loves us soo much that He did what He did! Is it not time to change our ways....love others and erase hate in our vocabulary? Let us all try to follow God's way. Maybe then, there will be world peace! Am I asking for a tall order? Maybe, but I believe in miracles! And I know that miracles do exist!
