HAPPY NEW YEAR! DECEMBER 31, 2021

 Happy New Year!  How are we going to welcome 2022?  With open arms?  Well, whether we like it or not, it will be here. So, just smile, relax, and leave everything to God. HE is good and merciful.

The year 2021 was a continuation of 2020, a year of chaos, fear, uncertainty and problems. 2021 is not ending in a positive note, many problems especially with rising prices of everything! Name one. Food! How about gas for cars and homes? You got it babe!

It is sad, really sad, what is happening in the world today. Many people, young and old are losing hope. What are we to do? I do not know the answer. Maybe, perhaps, we have to pray more to God for mercy and compassion. Ask for forgiveness and change of hearts of the wicked and evil forces that are roaming the earth. Pray that people will wake up and turn back to God. Pray that there will be peace on earth.

 May God bless and have mercy on us all!

 

A REVIEW OF TACO BELL DECEMBER 30, 2021

TACO BELL! YUM! This is one fast food place that is always busy. Why? Because I think, people think that it is healthier than the other fast food places. Am I right or wrong? Yes, people think that because of the little lettuce in the tacos and gorditas that it is healthier and have less calories than hamburgers. Excuse me, it is healthier! It has lettuce, tomatoes and does not use bread. Forget it. Why do I have to explain about nutrition. I am here to review the food. Okay, honey bun? Let us continue, and please, do not interrupt.

Taco, 12 pack ( $ 15.99); 4 gordita supreme ( $2.89 each); and 3 cinnamon twists ($1.00 each).  Total cost : $32.38.  Wow! That much? Nothing is cheap nowadays. If you really want to save some money, cook and eat at home. Why is everything expensive? For one thing, price of everything has gone up. I just bought a 3 pound hamburger and it cost $15.00. Usually, I get a coupon from the store when the price was just $8.00 or $5.97 for the 3 pounds. I have not received any coupon for ground beef lately. Who is to blame for the rising cost of food? Do you want me to answer that? No, I am not. I am here to review the food and place and nothing else. Got it? 

The 12 pack has both soft tacos and hard tacos. It is still that same size but I think less meat. How about the gordita? What is a gordita? It has beef, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and 3 cheese blend on a pita bread gordita shell. It is good with a lot of sour cream and the shell is crunchy and very good. The cinnamon twists is okay. It is a crispy, puffed corn twists sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Nothing remarkable. It is alright if I do not see it again. Ummmm. I am not saying a word. Great!

By the way, let us talk about the taco bell sauce: mild, hot, fire, diablo and verde. I only like the mild and fire. How about the verde sauce? What about it? I did not try it. It reminds me of a green poo of babies. Ha! Ha! Ha! You are sooo gross! Am I? it takes one to know one! Back to the sauce. Diablo is not for the faint of heart. You might end up with a heartburn if you are not used to an extremely spicy food!

REVIEW OF AL MAWAL RESTAURANT DECEMBER 26, 2021

 Are you tired of hamburgers, hot dogs and fries? How about a Middle Eastern food? I see heads nodding. I had a carryout of a combo tray for 3 ($ 23.99), from Al Mawal resstaurant in Sterling Heights, Michigan.  Tray was served with rice pilaf, 3 soups, small salad plate, 2 beef kabob, 2 chicken kabob, chicken cream chop, chicken tikka, beef shawarma, and chicken shawarma. Cost: $ 32.84, since I had an order of a large garlic sauce which probably cost $7.00.

It was a nice presentation, with the rice pilaf which covering the bottom of the whole tray. The meat were  nicely positioned on top of the rice, either shaped like a kabob or shredded. Seems to me that the meat taste the same but were just shaped different or shredded. Maybe it is just my taste buds? I like best the kabobs especially eaten with the garlic sauce. A word of advice with the garlic sauce....it taste good but very potent! What do you expect? It is garlic! 

The soup were pea soup, bean soup and vegetable soup. Pea soup was good, if you add salt and pepper. Bean soup was okay. Just okay? Yes, just okay. How about the vegetable soup? Oh, my! It is very sour. Too much tomato sauce? Maybe. If I am just ordering soup, I will not order this. It is too sour for my taste. 

Will I order this again? Yes, but I will request all pea soup!

A REVIEW OF LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA DECEMBER 21, 2021

A review of a pizza place. Little Caesars pizza is well known all over the world. It has locations in all 50 states and 18 international markets, a total of somewhere between 5,000 to 6,000. Can you guess where it started? In a strip mall in Garden City, Michigan in 1959 as a single family owned restaurant. Headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, it was founded by Mike and Marian Ilitch. Can you believe it had been 62 years ago since it first opened and still going on strong?

Why is Little Caesars successful? Because it is inexpensive and fast. It used to be, not anymore. Everything is very expensive nowadays. Who can we blame? I can say something but that is not my topic! Go ahead, say it! No, no, no, no, no! Hmmmmm.....no spine. If I have no spine, how come I cannot bend my body to be a contortionist? Got ya! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Back to my topic. Did you know that Little Caesars is the third largest pizza chain by total sales in the United States? Only third? I thought it is the "numero uno ( # 1 )." Nope, and I am not telling who the number 1 and 2 are, since they are not what I am writing about. Enough for history lesson. Is is interesting or boring? Never mind, do not answer.

Here it goes. For an order of 1 large hot and ready ( $ 7.99) and a large meaty ( 3 meat pepperoni, bacon and ham $10.99), total was $20.12. Wow! That is expensive! The $7.99 used to be only $5.00 and the $10.99 was $8.00. Like I said, everything is expensive now.But this is still the cheapest pizza, I believe.

Well, is it good? If you are hungry, it is good. And if you are trying to conserve money, this is the pizza place for you. Actually, it is not bad at all. I will buy it again. It is the most inexpensive pizza place I think. Do you all agree?

KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN REVIEW DECEMBER 17, 2021

A review of Kentucky fried chicken. What? Fried chicken. Kentucky fried chicken. Why? Why not? Chicken is good. Everyone loves chicken. Why Kentucky fried chicken? Well, as I said, why not? It is well known and "finger licking good," is it not?

Let us have a little history of the famous chicken. It was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders, at the age of 65, who started selling fried chicken from his roadside restaurant during the Great Depression. It originated in North Corbin, Kentucky. Wow! That young? I guess anybody at any age can be a sensation if you have the ambition and determination. Well, well, enough of the history lesson. I am here to review the food and not go into history lesson. Yes, Grouch. 

The restaurant I ordered the carry out was from Sterling Heights, Michigan. They had a special of 10 piece, 2 mashed potatoes with gravy, 1 cole slaw, 4 cookies, 4 biscuits and a humongous drink of your choice. I asked the cashier (bless her) if I can have 1 mashed, 1 french fries and macaroni and cheese. She was gracious enough to accommodate me. Total cost: $31.80. Not too bad.

The chicken was the original recipe. It was in a bucket which when I opened was just halfway the bucket. The pieces were very little, but were good. The mashed potatoes was creamy and they gave me 2 ssmall containers of gravy. Macaroni and cheese was Okay, but I have tasted better ones. Goodness gracious! This is fast food place, not an award winning  Michelin restaurant. You are soooo right! The cookies per my hubby was good. Well, with him, anything that is sweet is good. The cookies, chocolate chip, were wrapped individually. The biscuits, this time were very good and not salty. I ate it without honey. The humongous beverage was fruit punch which was good. I was given a plastic container to fill up from the pop dispenser. I made a mess, pushing 2 spouts at once, accidentally. A guy remarked, have a bath at Kentucky fried chicken! Ha! Ha! Ha! Plastic container can probably be re-used?

Are you all hungry now for the finger licking good chicken?

A CHINESE RESTAURANT REVIEW DECEMBER 14, 2021

I love Chinese food! My family loves Chinese food! How about you? Do you love Chinese food? I see heads bobbing up and down. Great! 

My family usually go to the Golden Harvest in Warren, Michigan. It serves dim sum and regular Chinese dishes. Does everyone know what is dim sum? Yes? No?

What is DIM SUM? Dim sum means 'touch the heart' in Chinese. It is a traditional Chinese meal made up of small plates of bite sized steamed or fried dumplings and other snack dishes which is usually accompanied by tea. Sounds good? You bet!

Anyway, what did we order? It was a variety of items which was a carryout. Cost of the items were anywhere from $3.75 per plate to $4.15 per plate. There were 9 plates ranging from shui mai, spring rolls, beef baby ribs with black pepper, fried meat dumplings, crab rangoon, and stuffed eggplant. They were all very good. The baby ribs could have been more tender, but the sauce was really good!

We also had an order of the regular Chinese dishes: salted spicy squid which were good and spicy; Cantonese chicken chow mein ( crispy noodles with vegetables and chicken); and Yang chow fried rice ( rice with vegetables and chicken). 

With the carryout, chopsticks and Chinese hot oil were added. Make sure to ask these when ordering because they will not include it unless asked. Soy sauce was not even in the bag. It is good that we have it at home. Did we get fortune cookies? My hubby was disappointed, we did not get any fortune cookies.  Oh, well.

Price for all of these food? $110.66. I thought it will only be around $90.00. Everything is soo expensive now, and everyone is raising their prices. Well? Was it worth the price? I guess. Because driving home, I can already smell it and it made me hungry that I could not wait for everyone, so I had to start eating the egg roll! Wow! That good? Yes! Problem with Chinese food.... you get hungry so fast after eating. So what? Then eat again! Oink!Oink! Ms Piggy? Shhhhhh...

A BAKERY REVIEW DECEMBER 9, 2021

Hi, everyone.....I am back......

Did you all miss me? Yes? Who cares? Oh, well. Whether you like it or not, here I am.

I thought today, I should write a review of a local bakery, Mannino's. I have been going to this bakery for a very long time and this is the first time I am writing a review of what I bought. Do you want to know what I bought from the bakery? I see heads bobbing up and down. 

Here goes: 12 ricotta cannolis, 12 double delights, and a small birthday cake ( maybe 5-6 inches?). Yummy!!!

Should I do the bad review or the good review first? Let 's do the negative review first.

Price: $ 56.31. I do not even know how much the cost of the cake is nor the individual items. I did not ask and the items were not listed individually in the receipt. So, I do not know. I know, I should have asked but I did not. What? Yes, I bought something that I do not know the cost. Yes, do not send me to buy something because I will just get it without knowing the price.I usually ask, but did not do this time. Next....

Small birthday cake. It is soooo cute! who cares of the size, it is a cutie with the design. All chocolate cake. Yummy? My daughter would not eat it after the first bite. First of all, it seems like just a box chocolate cake, in my opinion. Secondly, the frosting is just the regular sugar frosting. It is not even the buttercream frosting! I could have bought it at Kroger, would have been cheaper and taste better with buttercream frosting! Why am I saying that? I like the cakes at Kroger, it taste good and inexpensive. Whoa! Stop there....you are not reviewing Kroger's cakes, okay? So sorry, my brain sometimes wander. So, I am not sure now who will eat the cake. I am glad I only bought a small one. There goes my figure. What figure? Wink, wink. Ha! Ha! Ha! Maybe my hubby can eat it with me? We'll see. 

Twelve double delights. What are they? Balls ( oh,oh! Is that an obscene word? Shhhh....keep quiet). double chocolate balls. To me, they are glorified donut holes that are denser. It is okay. Just okay? If you are a chocolate lover, you will like it.

Twelve ricotta cannolis. They are the best! Everybody in my family loves it! This is the best cannoli I have tasted. No wonder they cannot keep up with the demand. You have to order it if you want it. I have stopped in the bakery several times for it and they are always out of it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR January 10, 2021

 Happy New Year!  Should we welcome 2021 with a smile or not? Of course with a smile! Why? We are alive and well with God's grace and mercy!  The year 2020 will be one of the most unforgettable year for all of us. A year full of mishaps, should I say, in regards to almost everything, e.g. health, politics, education, work and other things, here in America and all over the world. 

It was a year of chaos and uncertainty to all, which seems to continue on to 2021. What should we do? I think we all should get down on our knees and pray to God for more mercy and compassion that we will all be able to withstand, endure and be safe. Why not ask for eradication of all problems? Because there are more agnostics, atheists and lukewarm people than faithful Christians! Need I say more? Of course not!

God is good! It is up to the faithful to remain steadfast in their faith, and pray harder. Pray that the good will overcome the wicked and the evil forces that are roaming the earth. Pray that good will triumph over bad. Pray that people will wake up and turn back to God! Is this asking too much? 

If there are more people with God or for God, perhaps, there will be peace on earth. What a sight that will be!
