New Year's Eve

Today is the last day of 2010. At 12 midnight, we are going to ring in the New Year..2011! What is in store for us all? Hopefully just good things! Here's hoping that if 2010 was a crappy year, that 2011 will be a better year; if 2010 was a good year, 2011 will be better!

We should all be thankful for all the blessings that God has given to us, and continues to shower us. Hopefully, 2011 will be a miracle year for everyone....economy will be better, those who were unemployed will find something, the homeless will get help and will cease to be on the streets, the housing problem will be better - no more foreclosure, the health system will be better for everyone. Too good to be true? Perhaps. But do you believe in miracles? Miracles do happen, and if there are more people that will pray, maybe God will give His mercy and make it better!

Whether your plans are to have a party, go to a party, drink champagne, sleep, eat or watch the ball fall to ring in the New Year in Times Square, we should not forget to say a littlle prayer for the whole world that there will be peace.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!! May God bless all of us!!!!

A New Year!

A New Year is fast approaching! Woo...hooo...another year will soon bite the dust!!! Have any of you decided on your New Year's resolution...only to be broken???? How many really followed to a T their New Year's resolution??? I see!! What do you see??? Hmmmm....I do not see many hands that are up in the air! Don't we have any determination to follow through and conquer our resolutions??? Are we a bunch of wusps and losers that we cannot even stick to what we have promised to do for the New Year??? Whoa!!! Hold on, that is such a strong word!!! Damn right it is!!! Isn't that the truth?? Are we not guilty?? Come on..tell the truth!!! You got that right!!!

How many have promised not to smoke year after year??? That is different! No, it is not! A resolution is a resolution!!! Not if you did not have that as a resolution! Excuse me....no comment from the peanut gallery please!! Oooopppssss!!!!!

How about those that promised to eat healthy?? That is one resolution that a lot of people are guilty of! For one thing..there are sooo many temptations out there...fast foods, aisle after aisle of junk food in the stores! One other thing, the junk food is sooo yummy!!! Why do the unhealthy food taste better??? What is their secret ingredient??? More fat!!! Is that it??? Comments, anyone??? If you buy the food with less calories...notice how outrageous the sugar content is! If it is not the salt content, it is the sugar content! Ay..ya..yay!!! No wonder there are sooo many obese and sick people out there!!

How about to exercise regularly?? It is easier said than done. It is nice to have a buddy system to go to a fitness center. Why bother going to a fitness center??? Just walk at the mall! Problem with that??? There are soo many temptations at the stores with big letters blazing on the windows," SALE." What do you do? Check inside to see the sale! Pretty soon you forget your main goal at the mall! See...were a bunch of woosies that easily succumb to temptations!!! What can I say??

How about just exercising in the comfort of your home?? You buy an exercise bike or a treadmill. You are gung ho in using it for a couple of months...then your interest dwindles down until the machines just gather dust and forgotten! See...we do not have incentives to continue what we have started! Who is to blame?? None other than yourself!!! Guilty as charged!!! We can't win, can we???

Well, whatever is your New Year's resolution..hopefully it is a good one that you can follow through and stick to...no matter what!!!

Have a great day! May God bless us all!!!

2010 Memories

Three more days before 2010 comes to a close! Soon all memories of 2010 will be gone, replaced by 2011. Did you capture all the things that have happened in 2010 with your camera, cell phone, or was it sketched vividly on your mind that nothing can erase?

Was it a new baby, a new house, a new job, a new cat or was it a sorry 2010 that was full of struggles financially and emotionally? Perhaps, it was a vacation of a lifetime to some exotic place, a long drive, or a short drive just to be away from all the stress of daily life??? What ever it is, we are just hoping and praying that 2011 will be a much better year for all of us! Notice that I used "much better." That's just it! I hope that everyone will get a a much better 2011 that 2010!

Hopefully, the economy will really turn around...the problems with unemployment, housing, and homelessness will come to an end. Hopefully, the government will work together for a common goal... to govern the US citizens better with no regard to any selfish agenda! After all, The United States government was for the people, for the people, and by the people! Amen, I say to that! That the government will give more dignity and compensation to the senior citizens! After all the people owe it to the seniors who painstakingly worked sooo hard over the years and cared for the emerging citizens of our dear country! They were the pillars of the society at one point and time, don't anybody forget it! Lastly, I hope and pray that the health care dilemma will be solved.... that it will be a better health care for everyone..both the patients and the doctor without any ulterior motives from the government, i.e. end of life for seniors, abortion, etc....

Wouldn't that be also nice if there was a true peace on earth?? Now! Now! You are asking for a miracle! Nations will go against nations to be the world power! Well, do you believe in miracles?? Miracles do happen, isn't it?? They sure do! I rest my case!!

Have a good day, everyone!! May God bless us all!!!

Christmas Day, 2010

It is Christmas!! The child Jesus is born!! Alleluia!!! Hip! Hip! Hooray! Christmas is one joyful, and blessed event for many people. I really like Christmas...the hustle, the bustle, the Christmas trees, the Christmas decorations and the preparation that comes with it! What I do not like with it is the temptation to overeat! I should tape my mouth 2 days before up to New Year! Ha! Ha! Ha! Wouldn't that be hilarious??? You are insane...100%!

We attended the midnight mass. The church was full, and the church choir treated us with Christmas songs for 40 minutes before the mass. Hubby, a tenor, sang O Holy Night...it was fantastic! The church was beautifully decorated with 3 Christmas trees and a ton of Poinsettia and other Christmas plants! Came home at almost 2 in the morning! Ate, talk and opened presents! Of course, Christmas would not be complete without pictures!!! One present I really liked...my book covers framed! Thank you guys!!! Now, if only I can find a suitable place to hang it! That is really fantastic!!! One of my achievements framed!!!! Wow!!!

Wow! Only had 5 hours of sleep! Do not feel tired though. Not yet, for the time being. Already had phone calls...our turn to make several phone calls! That is the beauty of phones...can call and reach out to relatives and friends!

Is that all you can say...Wow??? That is the second wow you said! And it is back to back!!! Please do not challenge me today... it is Christmas!!! I will just smile and keep on going...just like the energizer bunny! Great!!!

Have to go now...enjoy the magnificent day! Merry Christmas to all!!! May God bless all of us!!!

Christmas Eve, 2010

Wow! Christmas Eve! Is your home bustling with activity?? Cooking, baking, wrapping of Christmas present, etc..etc...Can you smell the wonderful Christmas spirit?? Are you ready to celebrate the birth of our Lord???

Happy are those people that have the whole family with them on this joyful and festive occasion! Long lines on the airport, a long drive, hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season did not hamper them to be with their love ones this Christmas! As we hug and kiss our loved ones, let us not forget to pray for the people that might be alone on this blessed day!

Happy are those people that have food on their tables and be merry with family and friends. As we party, let us not forget the least of our brothers and sisters that does not have anything.

Happy are those that have a roof over their heads. As we gather together, let us pray for the people that might be wandering on the cold, silent night of the streets!

We should all be thankful for all the blessings that God has given us. May God bless all of us! May there be peace on earth!

Christmas 2010

We all love Christmas! The highly anticipated holiday is upon us...the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ! Alleluia!!! It is a very festive and joyful occasion where families and friends meet and have parties! What is different with this Christmas and the years gone by?

For starters, even though the economy is something to be desired, people are still spending as seen at the ringing of registers at the malls and any other stores! Unemployment is still high, but Christamas does not deter them to spend a little! After all, Christmas comes just once a year!

When a person is really young, the anticipation of Christmass is huge because of the toys that the child can play with! That is tight, I like going to my godparents and getting toys, not money! Teenage years...no more toys...gadgets, money, car! Yes, it is money time...to go shopping with friends..endless hours at the mall! Adulthood....good job, homes, nice car etc....Work! Work! Work! You are extremely blessed and lucky if you have someone to care for your children while at work! Retirees....to live healthy, be able to walk, sleep, go out and enjoy life with no holds barred! Can wake up any time you want, no time clock, no one to tell you what to do! You can do whatever you want any time, anyplace! Which category are you????

How about the family gatherings? Those were the precious years..endless talk, singing, pictures, drama, skits! Those were the really happy, fun days! As everyone grow older...families disintegrate... some goes to other places in search of their future. It is harder now to get together again because of family and economic restraints. What is one to do? Make the most of it! After all, it is Christmas!

Time to make preparations and the last minute shopping! Come on, guys..while it is nice, bright and early!!!!

Tuesday Rambling

Why do you have Tuesday rambling for today? No particular reason. Why? Do you have a problem with that? Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Can I not ask you a question? Nope! You are only allowed 1 question a day, and you used it up already! Why didn't you tell me at the beginning? See? That is another question! You have to wait until tomorrow to ask another question! Yikes! You are something else! What? A very nice, lovely person? A nice person, my butt!! Thank you! Ha! Ha! Ha! Do you feel better now that you have unleash your pent up emotions? Why, yes! Thanks to me!!! Back to our ramblings and rantings....

Did anybody see early this morning the total lunar eclipse? This is a rare one since it fell on winter solstice! I woke up at 1 am and looked out the window. It was soo bright but did not see the moon. The moon must have been all the way up on top of the roof . Did you feel that yesterday was the shortest day of the year? Not really. The next lunar eclipse will be on 12212094. Wooo...hooo....Where will we be? Who cares? That is 84 years away!!!!

Has everyone seen the Sistine Chapel in Rome? It is one of the main tourist attraction in Rome where everyone goes to see! Did you know that a Frenchman, Jean Massa, made a tiny replica of it in Nice, France? It is one thirtieth the size in Vatican, and this guy spent 5,000 hours over 4 years to complete? He must really be a patient man to do a huge task! What do you think he got out of it? Prestige and satisfaction that he was able to duplicate such a place!

What is going on with the weather? There was a huge snowstorm in North America that cause major delay of motorists. Now the snowstorm is in Europe! California is also being inundated by heavy rains and high winds since last Friday! Let us all pray for the whole world!

An explosive device was found Tuesday in a grocery bag under the seat of a subway car in Rebibbia, Rome! Was sooo thankful it was found and no one was hurt! There are many people in Rome who use the subway! I know...we used it for a week when we went to Rome last year!

Did you know that there are 2 shortest people on earth? Ome of them is Jyoti Amge, 17, from India who is only 2 feet tall and the other one is 17 year old Khagendra Thapa from Nepal. He is only 22 inches tall! They look so cute and adorable!

Let us go to the latest inventions. Pillow tie. It is a tie that contains an inflatable pillow. Now you can sleep at your desk! Holly Molly! Wow! You can take that anywhere you go...you will have a pillow all the time! How neat! How about a Haptic wallet? It has 3 designs: Bumblebee- that buzzes everytime a deposit or withdrawal is made! Wouldn't this be annoying? Mother Bear - acts like a bear trap that you have to pry open when your funds get low! Wouldn't this be nice to bring to the casino so you cannot get more money?? How about if you are on a line and want to pay, cannot open the wallet?? Ay..ya..yay!!! That will be very embarrassing! Peacock - swells according to your balance! Oooppss..wouldn't that be hard on the back pockets or the purses? No worry about this one, mine will always be slim! Ha! Ha! Ha! How about a biometric wallet? It only opens with your fingerprint! Suppose your thumb is cut off..then what? And yuck, now the thieves have to cut your finger to get your wallet! Yikes!!!

Did you have fun with ny ramblings? Did you learn something new? Of course, you did! Well, have to go now... until the next rambling....

Survivor - Nicaragua, 12192010

What about that?? A new survivor was crowned last night in LA, in front of family, friends and fans of the survivors. As usual, there were survivors that were voted off that held grudges against the 3 finalists! How did I know that? By the look in their faces!

Take for instance, Dan Lembo, who proclaimed to the other survivors that he is rich!! He claims he owns many cars, and 20 more alligator shoes that cost at least $600! He revealed that to Holly Hoffman when she threw Dan's shoes in the water! As a peace offering last night, Holly gave Dan a cowboy boots as a replacement for his alligator shoes!!! Whoopie!!! Do you think Dan will wear that cheap shoes when he has other expensive shoes??? It will probably gather some dust in his basement! Come to think of it, why did he ever join the survivor if he is filthy rich? He can't even do anything in the camp because of his bad knees!! He was useless in all of the challenges...he was getting a free ride towards the end with Fabio and others since they do not see him as a threat! He was finally taken out by the reamaining 4, Holly Hoffman, Chase Rice, Nash and Fabio! The next one to go was Holly, the only woman standing! Boo...hooo... for Holly! She really fought to stay until the end, but the guys stuck together!

Jud "Fabio" Birza won the last 3 challenges at the end! Bravo! Fabio!! He did not win any challenges before...so I thought he was either dumb or a very weak contender! He can be given a good acting award! I guess he did not win any challenges and remained nonchalant at the beginning to keep people off his back! A very good strategic move on his part!

Wow! Every body seems to be upset with Matthew " Sash" Lenahan. I can see why..he tried to control and manipulate everyone! He did not get even a single vote! Chase was also the target of a few people because of his voting off Brenda, his ally and his crush! But he exonerated himself when he explained why!

The votes were very close: Chase 4, Fabio 5! Throughout all the grueling quetions of the 3 finalists by the jury, Fabio has been laughing and smiling! Is that his usual thing or is that a nervous laugh?? He seems so endearing with his laughing and smile while Chase and Sash were too stiff and very serious! Congratulations, Fabio...the youngest to win the Survivor title! Only 21 years old! I guess that really proves that young can beat the old timers when it comes to physical and mental challenges!!! Any comments???

Is this Jeff Probst last Survivor episode? Who knows and who cares? Because Of NaOnka Mixon and Kelly Shinn's quitting the show, there will be a new twist on the coming survivor episode in February! Is everyone ready to watch it????

Undercover Boss - Johnny Rockets, 12122010

John Fuller, President and CEO of Johnny Rockets is the featured bigwig on this episode. I do not know why I still watch the show because it is the old storyline....boss goes undercover, then gets a sob story of workers that trained him, reveal to the trainers his true identity and voila! each one of the trainers get a reward. Rewards range from scholarships, promotion, vacation etc...etc...Probably I watch it because I learn some things about the companies! That's it! That is the force that pulls me to watch it! Wow!! It is a force? Ha! Ha! Ha! Oh well, that is the only word I can think of now! So, stop it! In other words, hush and keep quiet!

First of all, I did not know that there is a franchise by the name of Johnny Rockets! It is in 15 different countries, cruise ships, airports, casinos...300 locations in 32 states! Wow! That is a lot! How come I have not heard about it? Someone pointed to me that there is one in the mall, 45 minutes away from us! I learn something new every day!

Fuller's first task was with Ajay in NY's upper east side as a line cook. Did he do good with his burger? Of course not! After Ajay tasted it, it went straight to the garbage can since it was undercooked! Oh! Oh! One point for Ajay! Ajay is a rapper musician that got a lucky break when Fuller sent him to attend the American Music Awards Red Carpet style. He is now talking to record producers! He is one lucky guy! Fuller is also going to put on trial basis on their menu, Ajay's new concoction of cheese, fries and mushrooms!

At the Mohegan casino in Uncansville, Connecticut, Fuller's task was to serve customers. It is the busiest restaurant in the franchise and one of the few that serves breakfast. The servers also do a routine dance in the restaurant! You should see Fuller dance...no dancing skills whatsoever!!! Yuck!!!! And you think you do? Ha! Ha! Ha! When we went there a few years back,I did not see the Johnny Rockets. Hmmmm....do you know why? It was because all you saw was the casino! Ooopppssss!!! It was also a huge place! Back to my blog... Janice, the server was a fireball! Very enthusiastic! Fuller is sooo lucky to have her! If I have a business I would have hired her also! She did her own dance choreography because she did not like the company's dance routine! What did she get out of helping the boss? An all expense paid to Grand Canyon where her late father wanted to take the whole family! He is also paying her extra to choreograph new dances for the company and started a scholarship fund for her 4 kids!

Next stop was a sports bar with Claudia, the bartender. His cover was almost blown when the owner's in laws ran into him in the bar! This place is slow..Claudia had to pass out flyers outside to get customers!! What did Claudia get for her efforts? A year of her rent paid by the company, so she would stay!

Atlantic City was the last stop, with Tony, a food runner who served 3 years in prison for assaulting the guy who allegedly killed her daughter. Tony also lived underneath the boardwalk for 3 months before landing a job at Johnny Rockets! That is good that Johnny Rockets gave this guy a chance to change his life! That is really great! What did Tony get from Fuller? $5,000 to keep a roof over his head! He also donated $5,000 to a children's charity in the name of Tony's daughter! He also received an all expenses paid trip for him and his children to an amusement park of his choice! Good for Tony!

Well, like I said before, it is nice and dandy for the few that the CEO have come in contact with! But how about the other employees that probably work as hard as the few chosen ones! What did they get??? And how were the few chosen to interact with the big honcho? Do they have to interview all employees and get the juiciest story to tell?? Did the employees know who they were going to deal with?? What does the other employees think of all this? Have not heard any employees that were interviewed that was not a part of the segment! Comments, anyone?

Amazing Race, 12122010

The first all female team conquered the latest Amazing Race! This team was really a good team, even though one of them is diabetic and has a fear of heights! Who were the winners? You have to hold your horses a little bit! I do not have a horse! Ha! Ha! You are a nincompoop! You have to have patience, silly!!!

The final leg took the three teams: Jill /Thomas, Nat/Kat and Claire/Brook to travel from Korea to Los Angeles. All teams ended up in the same plane for LA. The first task was bungee jumping from huge cranes at Long Beach Port. Yippeeee!!! That seems fun! But really scary! I do not think it is my cup of tea! Even for the tune of a million dollars! You are just saying that...but I think when you are there the adrenaline rush will keep you doing anything they ask you to! Oh, ya? What do you guys think? Back to bungee jumping....once they accomplish this feat, they can get the next clue!

The next clue send the teams to Pasadena, home of the Rose Bowl. I have never been to the Rose Bowl. Seems like fun, except now they do not use all roses for the floats! Where have you been? They discontinued the practice a longtime ago! Comments, anyone?? The clue sends each team to decorate a float for the Rose Bowl parade. Isn't that too early for the flower decoration for the floats? It is still 3 more weeks to go before the parade! Really! Did you see how hard and meticulous it was to place each of those little bitty flowers on the big floats?? It will take a lot of manpower and hours to decorate a float! I can see that! Once it is successfully accomplish, they can get the next clue!

The clue after this task was some kind of a riddle. to get them to the next destination..... Sancho Panza's master. You will need a computer to get the answer! Nat and Kat's taxi driver was really nice and lent them his phone to call someone. Claire and Brook stopped at a hotel to use a computer, but Jill and Thomas did not have any luck with their taxi driver nor did they stopped at a cafe or hotel...they ended up driving in circles!!! Yikes!!! What were they thinking??? They must have had a brain fart that day! Ha! Ha! Ha!

The final task took them to Don Quixote Stage where they were greeed by Bob Eubanks. Each team had to pick out in order the welcome mat greeters from the flashing game board. Thge first one to arrive were Nat Strand, 31, and Kat Chang, 35. This task need s a very sharp memory. I thought the doctors will breeze though this, but I was wrong! It was Brook Roberts, 27, and Claire Champlin, 30,home shopping hosts that went through this fast! One thing with this duo, they were always giggling and laughing! Lat one to arrive was Jill Haney, 27, and Thomas Wolfard, 30, dating couple!

Who won? None other that the doctor team, Nat and Kat , who was greeted by Phil Keoghan and the rest of the teams!! Congratulations, Nat and kat! Not only did they win a million dollars and 2 or 3 other prizes , but the distinction of the first all woman team to win!!! Hip! Hip! Hooray!!!

Apprentice 12092010

There is a new apprentice in Donald Trump's boardroom! She is none other than Brandy Kuentzel, an attorney. She was head to head with a fellow attorney, Clint Robertson!

What was their final task before The Donald made the decision? The plan was a large scale event at Trump National Golf Course in Westchester, New York. Brandy managed a golf tournament with Kathy Griffin for entertainment and Clint planned a gala headed by Liza Minelli! As usual, there were also extensive interviews of the 2 candidates!

If I were also Donald Trump, I would have picked Brandy! First of all, look at her... she is young, beautiful, well educated and has good charisma and body! Oh! Oh! You are bias! Well, she is a prize possession ...hmmm...I mean she will be nice to deal with by Donald's clients! On the other hand, I do not have anything against Clint..but he is not as sexy and good looking as Brandy! Need I tell more?? Okay we get it! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! You are all in the outward looks! Not good! Does that mean to say that the ugly ones does not have a place in the boardroom? Well, there is always an exception for everything is it not? But, maybe if we go to Donald Trump's boardroom all we will see are gorgeous people! I hope I am wrong! Any comments???

I think I have lost interest in watching the apprentice. Maybe it has lost its glamour and people was not as feisty and competitive as before? Plus it is now on TV later... at 10 pm! By that time one is winding up to either catch up with e-mail or go to sleep! It seems they have lost their ratings! What do you think?

Sunday Yammering

Ha! Does anyone know what yammering is? Today is Sunday, and I a have a "snowlaztitis syndrome." Is there such a word? Tough! There is one now! Snow + laziness = snowlaztitis! Wow!!! Only you can create weird words! But there is a good ring to it! Ha! Ha! Ha! Am I ingenious or what? Never mind, do not answer! Can we make a song with that? Absolutely not!

Why do you have snowlaztitis? Well, look outside...snowfall has been going on since early this morning! It has not stopped, and they are predicting 7 inches by tomorrow morning! It is very cold! I was going to watch a church concert but the snowlaztitis got me instead to blog! I really would just like to curl up in bed and watch something on television, but some channels are not working! Oh, well..so here I am... working on my fingers!!! Lucky you guys! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Okay, let us go back to what yammering is. Can anyone take a wild guess? No? Aw, come on, boys and girls!!! When I tell you what it is, you will all say..." I thought so!" Okay, sound the drums please..... yammering is just another word to chattering, gossiping, muttering, prattling, ranting, spouting, tattling, flipper lip-ping, jawing, orating, conversing, babbling, blabbing, chatting, communicating, screaming, yelling, yakking, jabbering, rambling or talking!! There you go! Do not tell me that I never gave you words in case you need one for the crossword puzzle!!! He! He! He! That is a lot of words for just mere talking! I learn something new everyday!!! Isn't that the truth???

Well, what else are you going to ramble about? Sounds like you are going to introduce someone on a boxing bout! Ha! Ha! Ha! You are insane! The word ramble has the same sound as rumble but different spelling! Wow! That means you are awake and really paying attention to me!!! Wonders never cease!!! Enough...go on with your yakking!!! Yes, mam!!!

Christmas shopping. I cannot believe I was at the mall again yesterday. Had to buy undies and was sooo surprised at how much they were! I take it you have not bought any undies for the last 10 years!! Ha! Ha! Ha! I bought some..2 years ago, in Rome and they were not outrageously high! But I only liked one that I bought there! Seems like if you are looking for something reasonable, go to a cheaper store! Not the mall! That is right.. they were cheaper in the other discount stores! Did you return it at the mall? No. Why?? The lines are long and do not want to go back and forth!

I also wanted to get a bigger purse so I can carry my new released book, "My Journey With Breast Cancer." So, what happened? Goodness gracious!! Cannot find any that is made in good ole USA. I settled for a Liz Claiborne, only because I got a good deal with my $15.00 coupon! Now, I can bring my book everywhere! Hip! Hip! Hooray!

How about boots? Ay..ya...yay....The boots in the upper ritzy stores are really, really expensive...$300 and up! And just to wear it and get it dirtied??? Nope!! You are el cheapo! I do not care!!!

I have babbled too much, I am going to stop now. Why? We are having fun with your blog, why stop now? Because I do not feel ranting anymore! Do you have a problem with that? Yikes! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Testy! Testy! Testy! Okay thanks for giving us another interesting blog!

Have a nice week! Stay safe and keep smiling!

Survivor Nicaragua, 12082010

Another survivor was blindsided and is the 6th member of the jury! Wow! Whoever is the manipulator in this game is good! Who is it? Who was sent home packing? Why is Jeff seems upset with NaOnka and Purple Kelly quitting?

The show started with the reward challenge which was a yucky game. The survivors went through mud, retrieved a key and toss rings and bags. Chase won ! Who did he take to go with him to have the shower and other amenities? Holly and Jane! When he chose Jane, I went, "Oh oh." Chase promised if he win a reward challenge that Sash will be going with him! It was indeed a stupid move to bring Jane instead of Sash, which Chase admitted to Holly! Chase seems to be a wishy washy person! No, he is just trying to be nice to the older ladies who are in his alliance! Was Sash able to forgive him?

There are definitely 3 alliances: 1 - Jud" Fabio"Birza, Ben" Benry" Henry, and Dan Lembo. 2 - Chase Rice, Holly Hoffman, and Jane Bright. 3 - Sash, all by himself! He voted off his alliance Brenda, and NaOnka quit! But it seems that even though Sash does not have an alliance, he controls every one of the survivors! Why are they letting him call the moves? Probably because they know that he has the immunity idol! Dan said that Sash cannot be trusted but still follow him! Why is Dan still in the game? He does not win anything and seems useless! Watch that he will be in the final 3 and win the million dollars just keeping quiet and a yes man to all!

While Chase and company were enjoying their reward challenge, Benry and Fabio decided to eat the chicken! Whoa! When Jane returned and found out that the chicken is gone, she was beside herself! Oh my gosh! Jane did a memorial for the chicken complete with a cross! What the heck?? Is Jane a vegetarian? Comments? Is she losing it? I can understand because she has been in the jungle for many, many days now!! Wow! She must be really bored too...to have a memorial for a chicken!!! Isn't that amazing???

Who did you think won the immunity challenge? Sash who is very comfortable with his role as the manipulator of the game! How long do you think the survivors will listen to him? The people that they were trying to vote off was Fabio or Benry. Benry did not know that he was going to be blindsided! Fabio voted for Holly; Benry and Dan voted for Fabio; Chase, Holly, Jane and Sash voted for Benry!

In the tribal council, the members of the jury came. Among them were NaOnka and Purple Kelly who looked good. Jeff announces them as the quitters! They looked good and I think they do not really care what everyone says about them including Jeff Probst! Go, girls! You have all the right to withdraw from the game, if it will cost you your health and sanity! You were brave to do that and I applaud you both!

Who will be voted off next week? Will Sash still remain the manipulator? Will Fabio be the next target? Good questions which we have to wait until next week for the answers!

Undercover Boss, ABM Industries, 12032010

The latest featured undercover boss is Henrik Slipsager, President and CEO of ABM Industries. ABM Industries is the largest service contractor offering janitorial, parking, maintenance, engineering and security services.

The CEO, as usual traded his mansion and large office to work with the people in the bottom of his company. It is the same old storyline from the other undercover boss! What else can they do, except that? The outcome too, is the same...the CEO introduces himself to his trainers and gives them some kind of a reward, either a vacation, scholarship or a promotion! This is fine and dandy. My only qualm is ...how about the others in the company that works as hard as the few chosen ones?? Just say sorry ro these folks because they did not have the luck to be with the big honcho?? That is not fair! Is anything fair in this twisted world of ours? Comments, anyone?

It is also the same old story that the CEO fails miserably on his task and gets fired for the first time in his life! This happened in this episode when he was driving an airport shuttle bus with Kenny. Kenny thought that he was too slow and complained how heavy the bags are! Well, for one thing, the CEO is old! Ahem, excuse me...mature! Okay...mature and wise! That is better and more pleasing to the ears for the mature people, is it not??

Then he also cleans toilets and wash windows! Had he ever cleaned before? I do not think so! Of course, it is out of his comfort zone, so he will be very slow and not proficient!

I think they should try a different storyline for the undercover boss. Like what? It is for the writers and producers to decide! I am sure they have brilliant writers with grand ideas that can be put into the storyline! It is getting too monotonous and boring! Then why do you watch? There is nothing else to watch! Plus I do not really stay and watch it. I move around during the show! But some people like it. It is the same content...it is missing something that is hard to explain! Hopefully, they will change some of their format!

Goodbye To A Friend

It is Tuesday, December 7, 2010. I feel sooo lazy, after going to the funeral service of our friend. It was a beautiful service graced by about 300 people, more or less. The church was really full and there were many cars that saw him laid to rest in the cemetery. Although it was cold, it was a beautiful, sunny day! The priest talked about him and his past deeds and friends. I heard someone remark on our way out if on her funeral, there will be as many people as there was today? Indeed, this guy has many friends.... golfers, walkers, co-workers....etc.....etc......

The subject of death has been one that we usually do not want to touch. Why? For obvious reasons! The guy's family has bought the cemetery plot almost 20 years ago! In this year of inflation, that amount spent 20 years ago must have been 5x or 6x higher now. What do you think?

As we were driving, a discussion came about the final days on earth. We were thinking, the family chose a funeral home farther away from their home. We were thinking that is a good idea! Why? If the funeral home is close by, every time you pass the funeral home, it will just remind you of your loved one that has been there. What do you think?

The next discussion was about a cemetery plot or cremation. Cremation is less expensive, but you have the ashes stored in an urn. Someone had the ashes of her loved one in the cemetery, and she moved to another state. Our question...when you move, who will visit your grave or ashes? Another had the ashes of their loved one in their house. Question? Would you like to store the ashes in your home? When you leave this world, what will happen to the ashes? These are good, interesting questions!!! Someone said to scatter the ashes in your favorite place, your birthplace, etc...etc... so no one will be obligated to go to the cemetery. If the loved one re-marries, then the person that passed away will not have anyone visiting! These are really excellent questions that only you and a loved one can agree to. Any comments, anyone???

We were soo glad though that we were able to talk and be merry with him for the last time 2 weeks ago! Unbelievable! We were seated together in a party, drinking, eating, dancing, joking and carrying on. In an instant, the one you know will no longer be there on the usual place that he is on!! Life is really short! Make the most with it! Be at peace with everyone! Be happy and keep smiling!!

One thing though is really hard to do... to see someone depart from this life, whether it is your relative or a friend!! Goodbye, dear friend. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine unto him! Amen!

Amazing Race, 12052010

The racers are down to the final 3! Who are the final 3? Who won this leg of the race? This race sure has taken the racers all over the world. This leg of the race took them 1,300 miles to Seoul, Korea. The teams had to drive to the DeMilitarized Zone near the North Korean border. Is that not scary? I do not think the show will do something that will endanger the safety of the racers! There they had to search for Seungil Bridge where they will find the next clue!

The clue instructs them to raft down the Hantangang River, board a humvee to go to the US Army Base Camp Casey. River rafting seems to be dangerously fun as the racers found out! Wow! It gave the racers the adrenaline push that they need! I will probably be scared to death doing the river rafting! Would you?

In Camp Casey, 1 team member had to choose a headband, walk among 200 soldiers practicing tae kwon do and find the matching headband, trying not to get hit by the tae kwon do-ers! Is there such a word? Well, there is one now...with me...Ha! Ha! Ha! Once the soldier is found, he would kick a board to reveal the next clue!

Where will the clue send them? By subway to Seoul World Cup Stadium. They had 2 options: Full Throttle or Full Bottle. In Full Throttle, teams had to travel on foot or subway to Mokdong Ice Rink, change into a speeding skating suit and skate a 2 person relay for 24 laps! Goodness gracious!!! That is a lot of laps! Suppose you do not know how to skate??? Tough!!! You will just have a sore behind!!! LOL! In Full Bottle, teams had to travel by foot or subway to Namdaemun Market, put on delivery uniforms and carry 6 giant ginseng roots without breaking any glass jar. Once the task is done, the clue will be given.

Next task was to go to Han Riverside Park or Yeouido Hangang Park to search for a statue of an airplane where the next clue is. The next clue finally instructs them to the Pit Stop at Temple of Heaven, the imperial shrine built in 1897 for the first and only emperor of Korea.

Who were the first team to arrive? Brook and Claire! But, alas! they incurred a 30 minute penalty for taking a taxi, instead of the subway to Mokdong Ice Rink! That cost them a trip for 2 to Argentina! Well, at least, they are still in the final 3!!! Jill and Thomas were the second to arrive who were ecstatic to receive the good news! Nenenenene, Brook and Claire, that is what you get for not reading the instructions!!! How many teams were eliminated because of non-compliance to the rules? Plenty!!!

Nick DeCarlo and Vicki Casciola were eliminated! Final 3: Jill/Thomas, Brook/Claire and Nat and Kat! Who are you rooting for? Well, the prize money is 1 million... Nat and Kat are doctors, they do not need the money. I am rooting for Brook and Claire and not for Jill and Thomas just because there are no 2 women pair winners yet!

Happy Saturday

What is happy with Saturday? Well, you are alive, right? Yes? You can see, right? Yes? You can hear, right? Okay, I get it!

The day started right with breakfast, and getting dressed to see a friend that fell and banged his head on the floor last Monday. Diagnosis was aneurysm and he was taken off from life support on Wednesday. A friend of ours went to visit him yesterday, he was transferred from ICU and was still comatose. When we arrived in the hospital, we asked the receptionist his room number. She asked if we were family which we said," friends." She told us we have to talk to the family! We called one of our friends who told us he passed away last night! Is that what they usually say in the hospital if a person is gone? Why can't they just say the bad news? I do not know. And we did not even had any hint of what is going on! We thought that he was just really bad that is why they are not letting people visit him! Little did we know that he was gone! And to think that we were in his table on a party last Saturday!! He even requested to be with us on the same table!! Goodness gracious!!! One da, you are here, next day, you are gone!!! He is just in his early 70's!! He is still very young! Please pray for him!!!

Do you believe that on our way back home that our car would not start? Dead battery!! We were sooo glad that we got a booster...and a new battery had to be installed!!! Ayayay!!!! More moolah to fork out!!! Oh, well, at least it was still daytime when that happened!

We were on our way home, when we passed Popeye chicken in Oak Park. I have not had any for a long time, so we stopped to get some. When we arrived home and started to eat, we found out that we were shorted by an order of large fries!!! Dumbo!!! How come I did not check the bag??? I usually check it!! And this place is more than 30 minutes away from us!!! Yikes!! I was going to call the place but there is no phone # on the receipt! Finally got the telephone #, but there was no answer! I also found out that this place has had quite a few of missed items in the order! Lesson learned: Always check your order before leaving!!! It is only probably $2. 39 for the fries, but if they kept on doing that, that is a lot of money that the management can pocket from the customers!!! I will keep on trying to call them even though it might be awhile before I probably go that way! I was sooo disappointed that I did not have the cajun fries! Oh, well, less calories! The chicken and cajun rice were really good!!!

So, you are right, it is a happy and glorious Saturday, after all!! Have a nice weekend, everyone!!! May God bless all of us!!!!

News This Week

There are many interesting news this week. I am only going to touch on a few topics. Are you ready? Get set! Go!

What is new?? Nothing much! Same old stories..... Unemployment still sucks! Benefits are still under debate! In the meantime many have already lost their benefits since last month. Why can't the government extend the benefits for another year? Let's face it...there are not a lot of jobs out there, unless we all go overseas and work there! That is really, really sad, with Christmas just around the corner!

Housing sucks! The value of houses have really gone down a lot, but it seems the taxes are still high! What do we do about this? Not sure. Anyone has any ideas to get the housing to rebound?

Economy sucks! They say that people are spending for the holidays. I see at the mall that is true! But what are people using? Credit cards! To go deeper in debt? Sigh. That is not good! The stores are really luring customers to visit them...some had given out customers a $10.00 coupon, another $15.00 and some have ongoing sale with a 10 to 20 % off on merchandise! But when you look at it, it seems the prices were raised, and then they give you a discount??? That does not seem right! Any comments??

T =Tough! whether you liked it or not, it will be done!!! S = Sexual. Isn't groping a sexual act? A=Act that everyone despises! Wow!!! That is a good one! The invasive and intrusive strip search is still a very hot conversation piece. Ther are some women that go through the scanner wearing bikinis and underwear, only to be rejected! My! My! My! Is that insane, ridiculous or what??? Anyway, how safe is the scanner that virtually strips you from head to toe? The 135 machines which will number to 1,000 by 2011 is supposed to emit negligible amount of radiation, lower than the chest x-rays. How does it work? The radiation is absorbed in your skin, is reflected back creating an image of your body, in other words it shows everything underneath your clothes, including your "tootsies or thingie."Ha! Ha! Ha! Are those the best words you can use?? But what will be the effect in the long run for people that travel a lot? Who knows? Let us just hope and pray that we will not see a rise in cancer patients!!! They say that there is a new machine that does the same thing, but it is non- radiation. I wonder when and how long before they get to use those machines!

LeBron James was back to Cleveland the other day. Were the locals still upset with him for going with the Miami Heat? Of course, they were! The people in Cleveland should get over the saga with LeBron... If he had chosen to leave, let him go! After all, he has been in Cleveland for 7 years! Get over it! It is easy to say, but who cares, there will be another basketball star that will emerge sooner or later and LeBron James will just be another name! In the meantime, Miami Heat won against the Cleveland Cavaliers, 118 - 90! Who cares? It is just basketball!!

US dollar. The US dollar has really gone down quite a bit. Here are some sample of how much the US dollar is against the other currencies: 1 USD = 0.76027 Euro, or 1 Euro = 1.31532 USD;
1 USD = 84.06433 Japanese Yen ( JPY), or 1 JPY = 0.01190 USD; 1 USD = 1.33067 New Zealand dollar ( NZD), or 1 NZD = 0.75150 USD; 1 USD = 31.34109 Russian Rouble (RUB), OR 1 RUB = 0.03191 USD; 1 USD = 1.01264 Canadian Dollar ( CAD), or 1 CAD = 0.98752 USD; 1 USD = 6.67146 Chinese Yuan Renminbi ( CNY), or 1 CNY = 0.14989 USD. Wow!!!! No wonder the Russians and the Chinese are not going to use for trading anymore the once mighty US dollar!!! Do you think the US will rebound to be the world power again?? Who knows, but China is really in full force being the number 1! Comments, anyone???

Have a nice, safe and blessed weekend!!! May God bless us all!!!

Survivor Nicaragua, 12012010

This episode had a new development that I do not think has happened before in the history of Survivor! And what is that? Two survivors are quitting!! Just like that!!! In a blink of an eye...not one, but 2 people! Surprise! Surprise! I think even Jeff Probst was surprised at the sudden development of the show! Now, there will be no voting in the tribal council tonight! The other survivors are sooo thankful to these two! Wow!!! What a shocker!!! The others really felt relieved that they can survive 2 more weeks!!! Does that mean they do not have to vote next week also?? How about the people on the jury??? They were also so shocked and surprised and at the same time mad as a burrito! Why did you say burrito? I have another word but I do not think I can say that word here! Plus I can say anything I want since this is a free country! Sort off, is it not?? He! He! He!

The survivors had to be divided into 2 teams: the yellow team - Fabio, Sash, Purple Kelly S, and Jane; the blue team - Chase, NaOnka, Holly and Benry. Each team had to be tied together while they have to untie a giant Gulliver and go though a series of obstacles. The obstacles were not easy! They had to climb over to the other side while bringing Gulliver and go though mud, hay etc. Yikes!!! A very physical challenge! I applaud these survivors for going through all these physical challenges! Dan, on the other hand, is having a free ride all along, not participating in the reward challenge! He chose the winning team, which was the blue team!!! The reward was going to the Survivor's Cinema to see Gulliver's Travels, and feast on hot dogs, nachos and popcorn! Yum! Yum!

Since the survivors lost their tarp and food, Jeff made them an offer that only Holly took, which was to give up her place in the cinema. In exchange, the survivors can have the tarp and rice! How noble Holly was!!! Or was it just to gain sympathy and friendship from the others??? Hmmm...You always think of something! Oh, well...NaOnka and Purle Kelly announced that they were quitting the game. Jefft looked surprised, but not the other survivors. What was the reason that they were quitting??? They cannot take anymore the harsh weather that is on them day in and day out! Jeff told them to think it over until the tribal council! Do you think they made a mistake? No, I do think so! At least they lasted for 28 days!! Wowie!! That is indeed an accomplishment! NaOnka and Kelly S...Bravo!!!! Good job, girls!!! If that was me, I would have quit the 1st day... with the punishment you take everyday, living in the open, always cold and hungry! I like my bed, showers, food...the whole thing!! I was wondering though about Jane and Holly. My gosh these are 2 elderly women out there! The million dollars must have been a really good incentive for them! Jane Bright is 56 and Holly Hoffman is 44!! Woo...hooo....ladies!!!! you both are either insane or like physical challenges!!! I hope you two get to be the last 2 standing against the young men and Dan Lembo,63, who is a weakling!

The tribal council was just a reiteration of what NaOnka Mixon, 27, and Purple Kelly Shinn, 20, told everyone during the reward challenge that they are quitting! No ifs, buts or maybe!!! Good job girls!!! Will they be joining Alina, Marty and Brenda in the jury house, since they were not voted off but they quit?? Who knows?? Will there be some more that will quit??

This is really one show that will test your endurance and the will to live in an environment that is harsh and open! Are you up to the challenge for the next episode to win a million dollars????

Just Plain Talk

Time flies when you are having fun!!! Where did the time go?? It is already December 1st!! Wow!!! Pretty soon, it will be Christmas! I have a question... why do we say pretty soon??? Is soon pretty?? Who, when and how were the words started to be used with soon? I really do not know, and who cares?? If you really care, then do a research and blog about it!!! Or ask someone. I am sure there is at least one person out there that is very smart and knows when pretty came to being with soon! In the meantime, let us go on with our blogging....

The first thing on my list is the billionaires, e.g., Buffett, Gates etc, etc.. going on a trip to China. They were going to see about investing in a business overseas. It also showed how these billionaires do not have to go though security and the customs! Of course, they would not have to go through the TSA and the infamous pat down/ groping because they have their own luxurious jets!! It must really be nice to be able to go anywhere without any worry about money or anything! They were also trying to talk to the rich Chinese about charity. I guess charity is not really in the vocabulary of the Chinese people. It might take time to persuade them to part with their precious yuan to help the less fortunate! Any, comments???

The fall of the dollar. It seems that China and Russia have dropped using the dollar for trading. They will each use their money now. What will happen to the dollar??? It will probably be weaker and more devalued! Wouldn't that be good for the US economy??? If the dollar is down, more people will come to America to buy mercandise, is it not?? I remember a few years back, I saw at the mall some people from Canada coming to the US to buy since their money went up!!! Can you imagine that? Canadian money is equal or higher than the American money now! I remember about 20 years ago that $1.00 US was equal to $1.50 Canadian! Sigh! Gone are those days! Oh, well. Comments, anyone???

Federal deficit. What are the plans of the US government to reduce the deficit??? Plenty, from what I heard. Are you ready?? 1 - Raise the age for social security benefits. My goodness, that is bad for the older people, they really will not enjoy their golden years! Excuse me, some seniors are not enjoying it now either! Some went back to work to make ends meet! And there is quite a bit of seniors that filed for bankruptcy! 2 - Change of the tax laws that will cost an average taxpayer $1,700 more per year! Yikes!!! That is not good!!! 3- Raise the Medicare premium. Oh, oh. This is not good either! By the way, they are also cutting down the doctor's fee by 25 % come January 1st!!! They have not given an increase to seniors for 2 years now!!! 4 - End the home mortgage deduction! What??? That is the only thing people can deduct from their taxes, since they took out the other deductions! My! My! My! What is the world getting into??? 5 - Raise gasoline taxes!! Goodness gracious!!! What will gasoline cost?? $7.00/gallon??? Wow!! Today, gasoline was $2.92 /gallon. It is outrageous!! If the gasoline go up, then everything will go up!!! Then what are people supposed to do??? Live on the streets???

Federal pay freeze. The federal employees are not going to have raises for the next 2 years! Woo..hoo....Except they already had a big chunk of raise for the last 2 years! Even if they do not get a raise, they are still better off than the private sector when it comes to pay rates!!! Right????

Unemployment. It is still very high! And many people will lose their benefits come Christmas or have already lost their unemployment benefit last month, the end of November! What will happen to these people??? I am not sure but I am praying to God that our government will do something to alleviate the unemployment and hopelessness that seems to be the norm in our society now! Can the billionaires do something for America and the people in need??? They will probably say, " what do they care?" I do not know, maybe I am thinking that there might be someone with money and nice enough to do something to make the lives better for our people! Isn't there a country that helps their people???

I think that is it for now. Let me talk about something lighter now. Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting last night. Wow!!! That is a huge Christmas tree that was lit up and witnessed by hundreds of people! And there was a bevy of celebrities that made the occasion really festive, like Jackie Evancho, Terry Fator, Jessica Simpson, Susan Boyle and Josh Groban. It was indeed a very nice celebration to herald the start of the Christmas season in New York City!!!
