This episode features one of the owners of the Chicago Cubs, a baseball franchise at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Todd Ricketts is the youngest of the 4 siblings who was delegated to be the undercover boss! Sounds familiar, all of you that are the youngest of the siblings??? You always get to do the dirty work of the oldest siblings!!! Ha! Ha! Ha! Just kidding!!! I am sure this is not the case of the Ricketts.
Like I said before, the storyline is all the same ... the undercover boss gets to spend a day or two with an employee to learn the job. While on the job, the undercover boss gets the life history of the trainer, then the trainer gets a little piece of the pie of the company!!!! I did not say a piece of the pie, but a little, itty, bitty piece!!! Like what?? A paid vacation, a scholarship for the employee or the employee's children.
The Chicago Cubs Undercover Boss is in the same category. Todd Ricketts was with Darryl, a day crew maintenance and scoreboard operator. What did Ricketts do? He had to clean all of the restroom and fully stock it up for game day!!! I did not know that they just hose the toilets with plenty of water and let it dry!! I hope they also did it with bleach, I did not really pay attention of what they used!!! Why did you not pay attention??? I was doing something else while watching!!! Hmmm... Anyway, why do I have to explain to you??? It is not scrubbing the toilets like the hotels!!! Oh,well. Todd Ricketts was very slow with his work and soo clumsy that Darryl fired him!!! Now, that was funny!!!! To redeem himself, he went back to be a scoreboeard operator!! I did not know that the scores are done manually?? Or did I miss something again??? The scoreboard operator had the best seat in the football field!!! How about that???
Ricketts tried his luck next on the concessions, selling hotdogs. Did you know that they sell 1.5 million hotdogs per year?? Wow!!! A very big business!!! But the vendors are only paid commission. I wonder how much??? Why?? Are you going to try to do it?? No, I am just curious, because Rocco, who was showing Ricketts the art of selling hotdogs had been in the business for 28 years, since he was 16!!! A very long time!!! He must be making good money that is why he stayed. Ricketts found out that selling hotdog is a very demanding, back breaking job, and you need to yell a lot!!! At the end of the day, there were still 4 hotdogs left.Do you know what Ricketts did?? Paid $20.00 from his own pocket and threw the 4 hotdogs in the garbage!!! Rocco saw the hotdogs in the garbage and was furious! Ricketts denied and lied on national TV!!! Oh, oh, not good for an owner!!! What do you guys think???
Ricketts next assignment was with Joe, and the grounds crew, where they had to make sure the infield is in perfect condition, rain or shine! This is also a very hard task which need lots of hands to get the job done!
Next stop was with Jose, the parking lot attendant, who makes sure that the cars are in a tight straight line for maximum cars. He failed on this task also! Then he saw a friend while doing it, so he disappeared to tell his friend what is going on! Oh, oh, almost busted!!!
The next thing was revealing his true identity in the corporate office and rewatding the 4 people that he came in contact with!!!
How about the rest of the employees? Hopefully, the management will extend the good fortune to the other employees that the management did not have any contact with!!! Is this a lot to ask the management???
