Daylight Saving's Time for 2010 ended today at 2:00am November 7, 2010! Did you all remember to move your clocks back one hour and gain 1 hour of extra sleep today??? Yippeee!!! I think the people in the bars are the ones really rejoicing!!! Why??? They got an extra hour of drinking and boozing today, isn't that right??? I see many happy faces nodding in unison!!!
Daylight Saving Time, Daylight Saving's Time or DST starts every year on the 2nd Sunday in March at 2:00am, where we set the clocks ahead one hour and lose 1 hour of sleep. It ends in November! The best way to remember is " Spring forward, Fall back,"
Why do we have DST? It allows us to use less energy to light our houses by taking advantage of the longer and later daylight hours, during the 8 months of Daylight Saving's Time. The DST was instituted in the United States during World War 1 to save energy for war production by taking advantage of the later hours of daylight between April and October!
There are some states that does not observe DST - Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands and American Samoa. The days are more consistent in lenght throughout the year because these areas are closer to the equator. Wow!! I really learned a lot again today!
Daylight Saving's Time is good, if you know when the changes are. There was one year that we did not have any idea that the time changed. We went to church and that was the fastest service I have ever been! It was almost over when we arrived!!! That was sooo embarrassing!!!! You are really nincompoop! How could you not know it??? It is all over the news!!! I do not know...maybe we were on a different planet that time!!! Ha! Ha! Ha! Needless to say, that was the only and last time we did not know of the change!!!
The only thing with DST, you are used to a certain time to go to bed, now the sleep patterns are messed up!!! Oh, well.. You will get used to it again!!!
Have a nice week!!!!
