Just came back from Kroger today...prices on some items have gone up...do you think it's because the value of the dollar has gone down? Maybe. I just read today that China started to trade with another country in yuan, not in dollars. Shredded cheese, Kroger brand on sale is now $2.59 for an 8 oz package; cost of spam went up also to $2.69. Who cares about spam? I do, it's easy to fix & eat. Don't they serve that in restaurants in Hawaii? Yes, they do. But there are certainly good buys in Kroger today, e.g., beef ( chuck pot roast) is buy one get one free. This is really a great price!; Keurig caribou kcup ( 12 ) is $6.99 ( previously $8.99), a very good buy; some green mountain kcup is also on sale at $6.99, a really good price. Hilshire polska kielbasa is 2 for $4.00. There might be other items on sale that I did not see since I was in a hurry. Sale ends on Sunday 3/22.
Other stop was an Asian store, double dragon rice 20 lbs was $19.99 which was $12.99 before; kyongi rice 40 lbs was $24.99 which was $19.99 before. I do not know if I am the only one that is griping about prices...packages of items are getting smaller & prices are going up. One can easily spend $ 50 nowadays with only one or two items! Yikes!!! What can we do? Anyone??
Another thing that has gone up is medicine, I did not have a copay before Obamacare on generic but now, AFTER OBAMACARE, it is $19.25 for a 90 day supply! Premiums also has doubled and the benefits are not that great..high copay, etc...Isn't that ironic...the affordable care is not affordable....why do the politicians call it affordable, perhaps they do not know what the word " affordable" means? For them, it might be affordable since they are millionaires but for ordinary folks like me, it is outrageous and insane!! So, what will people do...buy food or buy medicine? Goodness gracious!!! I hope and pray that Obamacare will be repealed!!!

I can enumerate other things but I think I might run out of space, so I will stop now. I just hope and pray that things will get better...am I being overly optimistic? Probably...you guys tell me...I think I am done for now....

LABOR DAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2013
It is Labor Day, last day for summer activities especially barbecuing ribs, chicken, steak, hamburger, hot dogs, vegetables etc..etc... Excuse me, talk about yourself! Why? Because I am sure there are many people that barbeque all year round, including us. That is right! As long as the weather is nice with no snow on the ground, we fire up our barbeque grill and start grilling! Amen! You can say that again! Anyway, I am deviating from the subject because I found this very interesting.
Do you know where your food comes from? I thought I knew. The other day, I bought a bottle of apple juice for a recipe I am going to make...thought it was a product of the USA since it has the Meijer's name on the label plus the price is better than the other brands. I guess consumers really look at price first, which I am guilty of. But who wouldn't, with the sorry state of our economy? Besides, do we not always hear that we should try the store's brand first than the name brand items since it is cheaper, has the same taste, consistency, blah...blah...blah..
Anyway, guess what? When I looked at the label, I found out that it was " distributed by Meijer Distribution Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan."
I looked at the bottle closely, and lo and behold, "Product of China" was on top of the label, on the bottle itself. It is so easy to miss. Why was it not on the label itself? Did they do it on purpose so it could be missed very easily?
Why am I rambling about this? First of all, Meijer is in Michigan, originated in Michigan and the corporate headquarters is in Walker, Michigan in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. Second, did you all know that Michigan ranks 3rd in the nation in apple production! So, you would think that Michigan has enough to supply Meijer or any place in Michigan? I do not know about imports and exports, but I just thought it would be nice for our stores to patronize first our local grown products, don't you all think so? That is all folks, my 2 cents spill about what I bought which surprised me. Why? It should not have surprised you since one can rarely see any products made in the USA anymore, is it not? I rest my case!

BARCODE LABEL ON FOOD 02182013
When you are in the supermarket, do you ever wonder where the food you buy come from? Yes??? Well, I ususally look in the back and most of our food, it seems comes from China! I was in the grocery store looking for fish last Friday, and all I can see is " product of China!" Do we even have fish in the good old USA anymore? What did I do? I did not want to buy it but I cannot find any that is from America! What is happening to our country?????
I was at the mall today, all I can see from the tag of the clothes is " made in China!" Don't we have any made from the USA?? Apparently not. That is sooo sad....really, really sad.......No wonder our dear country is in such predicament. There is nothing anymore made here! Everything is made in China or another country!! Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! What can we do?? If you do not want it, do not buy it! But then what will you eat?? What will you wear??? This does not make sense. ( Sigh). Does anything make sense nowadays? We also owe China trillions of dollars! That is sooo scary! I just hope and pray that we will not be the United States of China in the future.
Do you want to know the origin of the food we buy? I came across an article that says the government does not list anymore in some cases the country where the food came from. It is coded on the barcode label. So be sure to check the barcode labels on food! It is the first 3 numbers on the barcode label that indicates the country of origin of the food.

The Sad Forecast For The United States
People of the United States of America...Please do not let this happen!!!
Per the International Monetary Fund ( IMF) , the "Age of America" is ending sooner than what the other people are saying! By 2016, just a mere 5 years from now, the US economy will be overtaken by China.
And whomever is elected US president next year will be the last one to preside over the world's greatest economy! That is truly sad and I cannot believe that our great country is really going down the toilet!!

Sunday Chatter
It is Sunday....have you all been good today? You are nincompoop! Who in the right mind will say no? Who knows, maybe there is one or two, or maybe several that will be honest to say yes. You never know. That is sooo true! What are you chattering today? How about the tic tac toe. Okay, what about it? It is such a simple game...placing the x or o to block your opponent! Can you believe that it was right there in front of me and I blew it??? I felt soo stupid!!! Everybody can see what the right move should have been but did I do it?? Of course not! What was I thinking??? Who knows??? That is no excuse...it was plain stupid!!! Oh, well, it is a thing of the past, move on!!! Just do not do the same thing next time, which I am sure you will not! You learned your lesson! Next! Government shutdown. It was averted!! Woo hooo....as if we do not know that it will be averted! These people are really good actors, is it not?? And they have been in the limelight for a few days!! Next! I read something interesting, stupid and crazy. The German Central Bank was sending damaged euros to China to be recycled as scrap metal. The inner core separated from the ring around it. You know what China did? China put back together the coins and sent it back to Germany to be exchanged for undamaged euros!!! Isn't the Chinese people smart??? You bet!!! Next! What is this about Donald Trump running for president in 2012? Which party will he be on? Republican? I really do not know. Do you think he will make a good president? Well, they said that his popularity is going up because he is talking about the right things, e.g., Obama's birth certificate. That is one thing about Obama, why can't he just produce it to put an end to this hoopla?? And why aren't the lawmaker's questioning him?? Isn't it too late since he has been in the office for 2 years now??? Comments??? Next Eva Longoria's skimpy 'tuxedo" outfit when she was a guest at Letterman. Letterman could barely talked when a button popped out revealing nothing underneath! Way to go, Eva!!! How come there has been sooo many wardrobe malfunctions of celebrity clothes??? Aren't the designers or whoever makes the dresses check the dresses first before releasing it to the celebrities??? If I am the celebrity, I would have cursed the people that made the dress, unless it is good publicity stunt??? Who knows with the celebrity world. The American Dollar
The American dollar has been on top for a very long time. Will it stay to be on top or will it be a thing of the past? This is a very good question that everybody is following. For one thing, a lot of foreign investors have a lot of dollars in their hands. Will they really dump it and replace it with what? The yuan from China? The euro from the European nation? Or will it be something else?? I really do not get it why many countries are sooo eager to get the United States at the bottom of the barrel, but the citizens of many countries keep coming here to invest, have a good life with no restrictions in large mansions and live without any government interference and rule! And why is our government, seems like, is now opting to control everything in sight! Are the United States citizens not capable of tending for themselves? I do not think it is that, I think it is because there are a few elite people that are greedy and selfish that wants to control not only the United States but the whole world! What do you think? Am I right or wrong on my assumption? Comments are always welcome! I have noticed that it is getting worse with the US dollar! You cannot buy anything cheap now! When you go to a store, $50 is nothing! Sure you can buy something, it is not even a full bag if you get meat! Yikes! That's too bad we cannot have live chickens, pigs etc in the city! Even the fruits and vegetables are so expensive! What can we eat that is cheap? Nothing really! How much more can we stretch our dollar? Gasoline is very expensive also! It is now averaging $3.65/gal in Michigan, and I am sure that it is higher in other states like California! But California's pay is higher too than Michigan! That is true, but their cost of living in California is higher! Ugggghhhhh!!! We cannot win, can we? What we can do is just pray that everything change for the better. Let us also pray that there will be world peace. Miracles do happen, and hopefully there are enough people praying for the whole world that maybe God will be really merciful towards all of us! Made In America
Where are all the products made in America? Are there even any products made in America? Are American made products a thing of the past? Who is to be blamed for this? The government? The consumers? Or both?
Have you noticed that when you go to the deep discount places that most items, if not all, is made in China? The stores at the mall is no exception! Almost all is either made in China, Bangladesh, Mexico, or India, just to name a few countries. Why is that? Their wages are very low...lower than the wages in the United States! The products made overseas is dirt cheap, that is why American consumers buy it!
When I am in the store, be it in a discount store or a well known store at the mall, I make it a point to discourage people to buy anything made in China! Why? Why?? That is a stupid question!! First of all, look at the American economy as compared to China or other places! Our economy is something to be desired! We still have many, many, many unemployed people! Do not listen to what the government is saying about the unemployment! They are trying to make it good for them! Just see for yourself, unemployment is not what the government says! Did you know that there are many, many, many people in food stamps also? 14%! One out of 7 people has food stamps! Is that what we want for our beloved country? A country with no jobs and a bleak tomorrow?
So, what are we as citizens, have to do? I thought that someone have to start making clothes here. I would, but I do not have finances that will allow me to do it! Do I get a financier for this endeavor? Any takers??? Someone told me that it is impossible to make clothes here in America since labor is very high! That is true, but if we really want our country to survive, someone should take the initiative to do it! The clothes from other countries are not that cheap either! Panties for women at the mall is outrageously high! The pretty ones are averaging $6.00/piece or 5 for $24.00! I think that is kind of high! What do you think? In the deep discount places there are panties for $1.00/piece, but can you use it? Of course not! I bought one, and it does not stay on my waist! That is a waste of a dollar! Return it then? So that you can waste the precious gas? I will just trow it away and not buy anyat the deep discount store! I learned my lesson! Am I right? Of course, I am!
So, all Americans should boycott any products made in China or other countries! Let us just buy products made and manufactured in the USA!!! We, as citizens need to band together so the United States will once more be a great nation!!!!! Need I say more???
